Advanced ESPN Soccer App for new English season

August 1, 2011

The new soccer season in England will have an advanced ESPN Goals app making the service freely available for the first time.

Beginning with the 2011-12 season UK soocer fans can catch action from every Premier League match – within just minutes of it taking place – for free on their mobile device. ESPN Goals will feature video of goals and match action, arthritis live scores and fixtures, adiposity along with additional video including match previews, medical weekend round-ups and ESPN interviews.

An enhanced video-led interface will also be introduced while ESPN Goals will send fans notifications alerting them when goals are scored. The service will be available via Apple iTunes, Android Market, Nokia’s OVI Store, the Blackberry App World and Windows Phone Marketplace, covering the entire range of major smartphone platforms for the first time.

“Let’s face it, fans are busier than ever and can’t be in front of the TV or at the stadium for all the matches as we’d like,” said Tom Gleeson, vice-president of digital media at ESPN International. “At ESPN, we understand that fans want their football wherever they are. The new, free ESPN Goals app delivers Premier League fans the essential mobile app, keeping them connected to all the goals and highlights, all season long.

“In its first season ESPN Goals showed advertisers the audience that they can reach on mobile. In season two we want to connect even more fans to all the goals from every match in the Barclays Premier League.”
